Nice, but $15.00? Ouch... I should have a talk w/my local machine shop. I'll bet they cost less than $1.00 each to make.

For our last project we measured up my hood hinges and made some hi lift mounts. Pics are at himounts.com Anytime I can machine something to save a few dollars we try for sure.

Yea they are neat but $15 is pushing it. A machine shop is definitely making those for about $1 a piece. Granted they may use a CNC to do it which the machine is expensive. Still not worth $15 IMO. I might pay like $8 but that's about it.

Considering it is a custom made part, though small and low material cost, it certainly costs more than $1 to make when you factor in machine and programming time... I own and operate a business that does mostly custom work, it is not cheap to make unless you are making a mass production run of a few thousand units. Custom cannot match mass production pricing. More than likely $8 would barely cover cost.

$15 seems about right to me.

I got mine through a guy on Instagram. He'll make any grill (even with angry eyes) and also does them with bottle opener. You can also choose one or multi colors for the para cord. And he does other things too. They're WAY too big to be a key chain, but I keep mine in the YJ for a quick access bottle opener. His cost about the same, but he's a fellow jeeper and I DON'T mind helping a fellow jeeper.
This is his site

My thoughts a well.

Setup time cost.
Maybe a buck a piece running 5000 or more on a quick run time.

^ really? even with using a CNC Plasma cutter? Yeah, it might take a little while to program it but once its programmed your done. Its not like having to custom mill each one like we used to do...

Yes really..... How cheap do you think CNC equipment is? It also requires fairly constant upkeep that ads to production costs. It is not just the time and materials that account for the price, overhead comes into play which is everything from basic upkeep, to rent and the electric bill. Running a business is not cheap and cost is alot more than just time and materials. Very few businesses truely over price products, prices usually only reflect a 20-30% profit margin and the percentage usually ends up invested in better equipment in the future. Sorry if I am being a bit defensive for this guy's pricing, but I have people questioning quoted prices all the time thinking I am trying to overcharge. The fact is, I should actually be charging about 10-15% more than I do to make a decent future for my family.
