Question First Car

Im posting again, still looking for a first car. I found a 1994 YJ 4 banger with 155k. This would be my first car, and would have to travel to college with me, which is a 300 mile drive, mostly interstate. (I know I wouldnt be in the fast lane, but thats ok ).

I just want to hear people's thoughts on if this would be a good first car or not. Im and 18 year old male living in VT. Oh and does anyone have a guess as to what insurance would be per month for me? Also how reliable are the 4 cylinder engines?

Thank you all,

Clean body, good frame... makes me want to look really well at the frame. These Jeeps are reliable if well maintained. Price is fair, but I'd certainly spend the money to have a person familiar with these to look it over.

Proceed with caution on this one. Get as much info as you can from the owner. Being a 4c auto it is not going to win any races, but does it have the gearing to handle those tires? What kind of lift is on it? What other modifications have been made?

I always recommend buying as close to stock as possible to keep from running into po created problems in the future.

I would pass, based upon the fact that it's an automatic, and that's high mileage. You haven't any idea what the thing has gone through.

Oh, and you're buying a JEEP, a car has no soul

I wouldn't rush into buying that. Definitely check it out, the owner SHOULD know about the gearing and what's been done to it, so ask if you decide to check it out.
