Ok well I just finished painting my jeep army green and I think I might pass out from being so tired. I started at 8:30am and finished at 2:30 pm, nonstop. The taping along took 2 1/2 hours to do. I did the job by myself which is why it took so long but I enjoyed doing it so I can't complain lol. I took the doors off, cowl vent, front guard, spare tire carrier and bumps, license plate and the JEEP plastic piece on the front bumper. I put 2 coats and then a 3rd touch up coat after final drying. It wasn't hard at all just wish I had an extra hand to help. I do have some running paint spots that I will sand over in a day or two when the paint hardens good.

Ill post up pictures later when I'm on my computer.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestion everyone!

Wow, I'm impressed. The look and the time you took to get it that way is impressive. I got an air brush and plan on attacking my '92 over time. But this is definitely an inspiration.

Chances are you have a vinyl shop in your area. Might be the way to go.

Nice work!!!!! How many cans did it take?

Note: I saw you mention sanding it after it dries. Umm, why? Unless you got some serious boo boos I wouldn't do it. Most likely you will end up sanding through the new paint. If you have to, go with 2000 grit or finer wet paper on a pad, and use some dish detergent mixed in with the water.

As a semi/flat finish it's going to end up rough. That's a characteristic of it. Helps hold the mud/dirt on better.

As for your stickers let me know I have two buds that do my vinyl work for my r/c planes. One does it as a hobby the other is a professional. He just wrapped up redoing some full scale planes on the U.S.S. Intrepid display in NY. I've had em do stuff in the normal colors, chrome, carbon fiber, and in diamond plate vinyls.

Only downside I can see is dependent on how rough your finish is. Vinyl may peel as it won't get a good bond. If that's the case, you can hammer on a coat of flat or semi flat clear over the paint to soften the finish and give the graphics something better to grip to.

thanks!! only used 6 cans!

i have a couple spots where the paint ran so i was just going to sand them and repaint them...

awesome thanks for the info on your friend yeah the finish is pretty rough, thats a good point, ill probably put a clear over the whole jeep and hardtop/fenders.

does your friend make stencils? then ill just paint it on the hood.

Might I say that is a great amateur paint job! I went to school to learn how to paint and it's not so easy. Prep is key and your work looks very nice for spray paint. Also I definitely understand why you didn't take the lock cylinders out it looks mean! Again great job!

I went with flat black last summer. I just hit the local dollar store for the spray paint. I keep a can handy for touch up. I painted alot of the accents red and taped off and spray painted The Punisher skull on my hood. Not bad for a weekend and $20 lol

thats a pretty sweet paint job. black and red always go really good with each other. did you free hand the punisher skull or use a stencil?

I traced it off my computer screen then used my old mans over head projector. Took the hood off and centered it up, out lined it in white crayon, drove it home taped it off and went ape with a rattle can lol
