Flush LED Taillights

Got bored so made flush led tailights on my jeep. Not a big job if you have tools. Got the lights for a carton of smokes from one machanic about $40 normally they sell for $45 each. On YJ to elimate the flash problem do a Trucklite part 262-3 flasher about $10 any truck part store.

looks good man. i did the same thing to mine but i used led trailer lights from wal mart, 7 bucks each. they dont have a reverse light though. i keep hearing about a flasher problem on yjs with this but i havent had it. what is the problem? do the flasher fuses go out a lot or something?

If a flasher doesn't have the right amount of load on it, it will flash too fast or too slow. If you have ever hooked a trailer up to a vehicle you can see it in action. It sounds like what you used had enough built in resistance.

Old style flasher relays work on a heat sync principal. When the turn signal is on, the metal in the relay heats up and causes the relay to open. It cools and closes automatically in sequence to get the flash. LED lights don't use the same amount of amps and don't heat the relay enough to cause it to open, therefore, no/slow flash. The other relay that was posted has a timer built in that times the cycle and will work with LEDs or standard bulbs. That help?
