Front Bump stop Clearance

On my 89 YJ 4.2 the front bump stops have basically rotted off and are missing. All of the rears are intact (axle and spring) and there doesn't seem to be any clearance issues. I ordered the stock fronts and noticed that if I install them there will probably be about 3-4 inches of clearance. Does this seem normal? I have no lift and new shocks all around. The springs are original but don't seem like they are sagging. I'm wondering if it would be better to leave it as is since they have been missing for at least 3 years and I haven't had a problem.
