Front Bumper question?

What is the purpose of the front bumpers that stick way out(not sure what they are called)?

Here is a link to what I am talking about...

STINGERS. They are useful for mounting lights but more importantly they keep you from nosing over in case you find the million dolar drop off. Some but em to look good but they have a purpose. I ahve a great pic on my home computer of how they can save the wild ride from happening. But I hope you get the idea. Check this

Stinger bumper, what's it used for.?

89 2.5 TBI, 4" RC lift, 1" Booms, SYE, Adams Driveshafts front and rear, Ford 8.8 with 4:88s, BFG 33X12.50X15, and a ton of other stuff.

Link won't work here at work but are you talking about a loop that goes from the drivers side to the passanger side and sticks forward a little? Then you are looking at a stinger and if you ever go down a REALLY steep hill and the Jeep rolls forward the stinger keeps you from rolling over onto the top.

You beat me to it jokerchief!

They are also good to get your front end up on stuff that is too high for you to climb. But that really depends on how much you abuse yours.
