Fuel Economy

I am a newbe here and recently bought an 88 YJ. I was told before I bought it that I would NOT get as good of gas mileage as I once thought. Found that to be true and ok with it, but I am curious on where I stand up to what others get. So, I have an 88 YJ with the 4.2 i6, 4" lift and 30" tires and currently getting 10mpg. Any others input is appreciated, thanks.

1990 33x12.50 4.2 I6 12.5mpg

Oddly, if I use 5th gear I only get about 10.5. I think it lugs too much in 5th. I can run 60 or so in 4th and only turn about 18-19k on the tach. so I never even use 5th.

LOL, I mean 1800-1900. 19 thousand RPMs on a Jeep? HOLY CRAP!!!!

:note to self (proofread)

5th gear is for the interstate and that's something my lil' white washing machine on wheels just don't see that often. Why would I want to drive on that thing anyway?

Haha yah 19k would be turning! I try to stay clear of the high way too. I left mine in fourth on my way to work and was turning around 2200 to 2300 at 50-55mph so a little higher then yours.
