Need your guys help. Here is an YJ that I am looking at buying. There is no rust on the frame or body, all electrical works. Hard top. I can get it for $6200. Thoughts? Fair price in CA?

_______

Selling my 1995 Jeep Wrangler, super clean and runs great! Less than 80,000 miles on it and it's been very well kept. Kenwood stereo deck has been added plus aftermarket speakers. Comes with a white hard top and bikini top. Has an automatic transmission and 4WD. Put 31inch tires, aftermarket rims, and a two inch lift on it.

Looks in good condition. Reminds me of my '93, red with white hard top and air. I had the alloy factory wheels though and strange white headlight rims on a red grill. It had come from the factory with the chrome grille which they took off and put on a white Jeep and swapped the white headlight rims over to mine before I bought it. I kind of liked it for it made it unique. The only thing I did not like about it was it was a three speed auto (no OD) so it did not get good gas mileage.

Going into Kelly Blue Book for LA (did not know the actual area) for a private sale, the $6200 looks good as with "only" 80K miles it is treated as "low mileage". (I have a 2003 TJ with 117K). KBB says the price range would run from $7600 to $7900. I take it you have looked it over. The one other thing is I would go to CarFax.com and get the report for the Jeep. You will only need the VIN. If you have contacted the owner, you can contact him again and ask for the VIN and just say your insurance company wants it in order to quote you the insurance cost.

Most dealers now will hand you a carfax report on a used vehicle. The one on my '03 TJ was most telling in a good way. It was a one owner car (they tell you that in the report) registered in three locations, all near AF bases, the last of course nearby. The good news was it spent 6 of the 11 years in Las Vegas, a nice dry location. It even showed when it was taken into a dealer for service and one early warranty claim. Most body shops now report accident damage to CarFax show the accident shows up. I would not buy a used vehicle from an individual without getting a CarFax. I think it costs $35 for one report and $45 for 5 reports. Money well spent. You might just want to go ahead with the 5 report option in case something on the report makes you shy away from this deal.

Have you driven it? Keep in mind, that no matter how good it looks, it is 20 years old and although nothing may be wrong right now, things have a habit of cropping up. If I was in the market for a third Jeep and one like that cropped up in the S. Georgia market, I would consider going after it. I have a friend who has a 98 Sahara that is in that good of condition and every time I see him in it I am a bit jealous for I have not got Rubi into that kind of condition yet.

The million dollar question is why don't you post all your jeep inquiries in one thread instead of how ever many it takes you to decide what jeep you want! It's your money, they are all extremely over priced in my opinion but at the end of the day you live in a state that charges double for everything!! GL their all nice looking!

Sounds like he is afraid to buy one, needs mama's approval so he can blame someone if he makes a mistake. For California there are a couple of good buys in there, why he don't buy I don't know, no one is going to give him one...

I'd jump on it, sounds like a good price for a good YJ in a very expensive state.

Not sure, her husband has taken possession, lol. He fabbed the tube rock guards. A winch is on the wish list I know, and although she re-geared the D35 rear axle when she added the lift and 33" tires, I think they want to put in an 8.8. The progress has slowed considerably since she's gotten married and had a baby, this has been a 5 year project, started before she got married.
