grinding out entire interior

I am planning on trying the new dupliColor Armor from Advance Auto Parts. I have read many posts that say to just rough up the ibefore rolling on the bedliners. I have pulled up the carpet that was in my '93 YJ and there is tons of glue residue everywhere, Today I took my grinder with a wire wheel and went at it. Getting down to bare metal but it is taking a long time. Will this pay off in the long run or am I going overboard on the grinding? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

No your not going overboard with it. After you finish getting it all off. Go to the paint store or lumber yard get a gallon of alchol and some rags whip it down real good, get it clean then spray it with some self etching primer let dry couple hours then roll it on. If you dont do it like that it will not stick for shit. when it dries it will start cracking and flaking off. Plus it is not thick enough to give you what your looking for. If you have it done professionally done the product they use is alot stronger and tuffer. When they spray it on it dries instantly and stands up to the elements. It will be about 3/16 thick and will make the floor board cooler and alot quiter going down the road. I have done that to one before and its in the plans for the one I have now, just aint had the time to do it but it is worth every penny

Thank you

Thanks for the advice, I already have the acetone to go over everything once I have it all bare. Is the etching primer absolutely necessary for a good finish? Just wondering i'm trying to pinch pennies after I found out yesterday that my family is going to be getting larger in about 8 months.

If the stuff you are putting on says it will adhere to bare metal fine but I doubt it will, in most cases a good primer is a must if you want the paint to stick.
