Hardtop and soft doors: Do they match-up?

I have a soft top with half doors. If I bought a hard top (which are cheaper in the summer) would my soft doors fit?

I read somewhere that hard tops are meant to go with full steel doors. The tops of steel doors are rounded and soft top doors are square. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

I am pretty sure bestop and other make round top soft uppers to match the round hard top. My soft top has the the square corners so if I wanted a hard top I would need rounded uppers or full seteel doors. Hope that helps.

I typed all that out so many times, and butchered the explanation so often that I just had to make the video.

Glad you guys liked it. Well, like is strong. Found it useful is what I mean.

Cheers!

So how am I going to make this work? I have a square upper door frame. I need a round door frame. Can I just buy a different upper door skin and frame or do I need to buy a new soft top?

You have square corner upper doors, which will not fit right with your new hardtop.

So you need to get either rounded corner upper doors, or full steel doors, for use with your hardtop.

When you switch back to your soft top, you'd switch back to your square cornered upper doors.

The easiest, and least-expensive, option will be to purchase a new set of upper doors. We sell them, and so do others. You've got zippered window options, but you can also get a set with sliding glass. Those are nice uppers for winter (especially if you smoke, or go to a lot of drive-throughs ).

But you might be able to find a set of full steel doors on the used market. It's worth looking.

I looked into the sliders on 4WD.com and they were going for a little over $400. I'm not sure how much used steel doors go for. If they are similarly priced I would probably go with the full steel doors. I will have to keep on the look out. Thanks for the help. Cheers.

I have factory soft top hardware and a pair of round corner Bestop 2 piece soft doors, is there a replacement top that will work for me or am I stuck buying a new replacement top with hardware?

This info is ONLY relevant to YJ Jeeps.

TJs and JKs can mix and match most doors.

(I'm going off your name here, and trying to avoid making this situation worse).

Footnote: TJ and JK doors, full steel, upper and lower, etc., are MOSTLY interchangeable. A few things can cause problems, like Upper Doors designed for factory lower half doors may not fit skinny little doors like fabric lowers.

Good to know. Yes I have a jk11. I wanted to get a hard top for the winter and I have half doors. I was wondering how/if it would work w/o buying new doors.. Thanks
