Headed to the scrap yard

So were on our way to the junkyard today what year Explorer axle should I be looking for an 8.8 That would have 410 gears in it? Also should I look for a TJ rear axle? Thank you for your help.

axles could have different ratios. ask 'em for a ford 8.8 and check the tag on the pumpkin for the gear ratio. you may have to order 410 ring and pinion for one depending on what you find.

Try to find one in a 96-01 explorer too. They have disc brakes.

I think it was the exploders with the towing pkg that had 4:10, not neccesarily auto/manual specific

It was an auto transmission with 120k. the lowest milage in the best shape the yard had to offer. total with good rotors was $147.00

Now I need to pull off the yoke and start cleaning,

Does anyone know where to get spring perches or should i try to grind and and reuse them.

Will I need a yoke adapter I noticed a differance in the u joints already.

Any suggestions?

You can run that flange, but you would need a 1310-1330 u-joint. Or you can get an adapter. I got mine from East Coast Gear Supply. It's like $37.

Thanks YJ fanatic, I remember reading about that U-joint on here some where but I really like the flange adapter idea too.

I got my entire 8.8 Swpa kit from M.O.R.E and also i think i got the Flange Adapter there as well. Thats a Steal on the axle. I gto mine for 225$ i believe. It was a 2000 With 4.10's. When i started i figured I would reuse the perches and everything.. But it's so much easyer/looks cleaner to buy new ones. I went with MORE Because the Spring perches alow you to streach the rear axle back or forward a inch. Also the perches are Anti wrap. There pretty long and Very beefy. Jeep Axle swap for Ford 8.8 Axle on Jeep YJ 1987-1995 from Mountain Off-Road (M.O.R.E.)
