HELP removing starter.

So i had the battery testedand it was fine so i grabbed a starter from autozone, but im having trouble getting it off. I'm not sure why but it keeps slipping my 3/8 sockets (and i tried 9MM) right off...

is there a specialty socket or something for these 2 bolts?

Thanks guys i appreciate it.

I just went through this. did you get the proper socket??---"Star Socket" Auto Zone or O'Riellys. Ya got to have it. I had to buy the set, to get the one I needed. A standard 3/8 just won't do it.

If its is really screwed up, a good welder may be able to weld a good short bolt to it, to aid with extraction. ---They seem to be put on with an Impact wrench, so care must be taken, getting them off. --I feel it shouldn't be this hard. Poor design, on something that could leave ya stranded on the side of the road, with no available fix near by.
