The previous owner put one on with hockey pucks and it works, not really worse or better than normal mounts but I plan to replace it with a proper set of mounts as I feel it's kinda ghetto. But it works
Definitely a bit ghetto. Lol
But at around $25 I can't help but consider it. I was even considering skateboard wheels but I think that would end up pretty close to the cost of an actual lift kit.
Ya if your on a budget it def works, the skateboard wheel option does seem a lot more expensive and I'd think the wheels would eventually crack the pucks won't.
I used the hockey pucks when I replaced mine on my 91. They are still holding strong at the scrap yard today. The key to a good hockey puck presentation is you need two hole saws. Trim the over all diameter down before you drill the center hole. This makes them look more like a professional body lift. Then make your center hole. I used oversized washers the same diameter as the hockey puck. It looked clean and professional. I wish I had some pics. I am working on using some hockey pucks for my transfer case drop kit until I get my sye. When I finish it I will post some picks so you guys can see.
Cool. I look forward to seeing the pics. I took another look at my bushings yesterday while I was spraying things down to prepare for Saturday. They weren't as bad as I originally thought the other day. The bushings under the frame mounts are all crushed. The ones under the tub aren't that bad. Kinda weird.
Pucks work great, my friends and I did a 2 or 3 ( can't remember now) puck lift on our co-owned 87 yj, the fun part is opening up the floor behind the drivers seat.
