hood pins?

Has anyone converted from the stock hood latches to hood pins? One is so bad that I have to use a zip tie to keep it in place and the other one is not a whole lot better. The hood latches had come off once before when my brother had it, while he was going down the road the flew up destroyed the windshield and did a hell of a job to the hood. Since I've had it I've kept zip ties on them cause I'm so paranoid that it will happen again. If I change to hood pins where should I mount them to the grill or some where else. Or is there a better set of latches that I can replace the stock style ones that won't cost a lot. I can get a set of hood pins that I like for $10, I don't want to spend more then $20. I'm sure that the stock ones hold fine as long as they are in good shape, am I just being too paranoid about this and stay with stock style ones.

I think I'd stick with the stock ones, just because they're the original jeep look. My stock replacements were like $14 on eBay.

x2...hood pins probably won't be as tight and let the hood rattle

I need to replace one on my yj. I scrolled through the many options on Amazon and ended up just picking new stock ones. They're cheap and they work. I contemplated doing some fabrication to make the clamp style work, but Why bother?

I replaced my original ones with some from Quadratech and they are nice and tight. My 90 also has a hood latch.

Go home JK, you're drunk! Just messing around.. But the OP is trying to keep his hood closed, not open Plus our YJs hoods/latches are just a wee little different from the JKs.
