I have a 91 yj and I have the hardtop and full doors on it and there's huge gaps between the hardtop and the top of the door. Ive tried adjusting the doors to make them fit better but there's still gaps. I'm tired of having puddles on my floor and soaking wet seats all the time. Does anyone know how to fix it or at least make it better?
Not positive but seems I remember people saying they have this issue when using a cj top and doors, I have a soft top and original half doors so mine stays dry. If that's your case than it may take a little extra aligning
I installed a used set of doors/hardtop this fall on my 95. Nearly perfect fit and zero leakage. As the fit "set in" though I had to adjust the driver side door striker just a bit to avoid a slight rattle. These were from a YJ onto a YJ though.
When I installed hard doors on my Jeep I had a large gap at the top it turns out that the upper door frame was slightly bent outward , bending it inward and replacing the door seals fixed it.
I use that foam weather stripping from lowes. It's cheap so when it wears just yank it off an add more. you can make layers of it to build it up if you have to.
Happened to mine too. I'm working on fixing some of these problems. Im installing new windsheild frame and plan to use double side tape to seal soft top to W/S frame. Using seal sealer where cowl meets W/S Base. I also found that water leaks through the firewall when I cleaned my engine compartment ( regular water hose) I plan to seal everything that passes through the firewall with silicone ( fuse block, cables, grommets, heater box bolts and blower fan, battery tray, heater hoses, etc) I want to install some kind of cover plate or scoop over cowl vent too, lots of water makes it through there.
My 92 YJ actually came with a rugged ridge soft top and half doors it leaks and there are big gaps at the top both pax and driver side. They do not shut so the seals on the doors do not make contact with soft top .
Didn't mean to steal the thread, Doors that don't fit are one thing, but I think a big problem is the cowl leaking. Gonna hose the hood area to see if I get water down the dash, Hood cowl cover might be the answer.
