I had a rubbing/squeaking noise coming from my rear end a few weeks ago. I could only hear it in turns at slow speeds. And it would only do it after being driven several miles (warmed up). I later jacked up one rear wheel (while cold) and spun it around a few times. No noise. Drove it for several miles, came back and did the same thing and the noise was there. I assumed it has something to do with my limited slip. I took the diff cover off and inspected everything. Everything looked good. No shaving in old oil. But the old oil was old and smelled bad. I put new gear oil in and it hasn't made the noise since then.
