I got a YJ!!!

Hey everyone! I just picked up my first Jeep. 94' I6 5 speed. I love it. Going to get it inspected tomorrow. One question I have is, I was driving it back to my house on it's maiden voyage and it seemed like it didn't like going up hills. I got the 4.0 for the added power and torque. On a straight without getting too crazy I got her up to 80. It seemed any real big steep hills I had it floored and couldn't hold 75. Is this normal?? I only ask because I have an s10 with relatively the same specs on motor 190hp 220 torque - 4.3 vortec, but don't feel that way when I drive it. Thanks all.

any oversized tires or anything, may need a tune up, maybe signs of a cat going bad.

No oversized tires, stock I believe. It has 120,000 on it. I'm going to change the oil and get new spark plugs. The exhaust looks fairly new as it does not share the same color as the gas tank. It could have recently put on. I keep her below 80. I guess I have to get used to the Jeep thing haha.

Congrats on your new ride! Have fun.

Is it an automatic? Flush that out too. People don't do that when they should.

yeah i would say that is pretty normal, you will learn real fast the 75 is moving for a Jeep, mine wouldnt get above about 70 before i did my 304 swap, i wanted to try it after my swap and i hit about 93 before i chickened out and slowed down but for the I6 that is normal

Whew! Thanks for the help guys. I'll post some pics in the AM. You can also tell me what all the knobs do as I don't have an owners manual. Think I will buy one though.

There are probably some people around here who can tell you what to do with your knobs.

No wait. Let me rephrase that...

It's called antisipitory steering and all Jeepers develope it. If you drive a Jeep long enough you learn to ride like your on a horse and what ever you do don't lean against the back of the seat.

Here are the morning pics. Need to pick up a spare today. Hopefully Crazy Rays has a few. And no high stop light I'm not sure what the previous lady did with them. You can see the knobs in the first pic.

A/C! Cool but I don't ever see myself using that. Anyone know the stock height? Or can you all tell if it is set at stock or not? Thanks.

The tires are 31x10.5 are those stock? Also, what oil does this beast need? I want to change the oil and filter today.

Yeah I think you have a little lift.. Looks like the back of the jeep is higher than the front, maybe since your slanted on a hill but 31s aren't stock and those 31s clear those wheel wells very good.. maybe 2" or 3"? not sure about yjs

Do these mean lift? I measured them from bolt to bolt and it's 4in. Also, I went to the junkyard today and got the spare mount. I wasn't able to get the high stop light. Then, didn't realize if the it is mounted on the spare mount. Does anyone know? The dealer ship sells them separate and for a ton. It was 15 for me and the are charging over $120.

Those are definitely stock shackles and those look like stock springs.

Sure you have 31's? I run 30's on mine with no lift and they are tight, not much room left, but they don't hit except for full turn. I suppose I could fit 31's but wouldn't.

Yes, that appears to be a spring lift, probably 2.5". The stock springs are flatter. The shackles look stock.

Those shackles are stock. There's no body lift. Springs are where they're supposed to be - under the axles. It all looks stock to me.
