I really like a horn

Okay, so it has crossed my mind a couple of times to look into a louder horn for my YJ, but it's not like it's really important.

Well.... the other day when I really could have used mine (and I use it often... ) it didn't work! It's still not working. So now it's time to search the forums and google and see what I can figure out. Where we live the drivers are just horrendous, like some jerk will stop in a five lane road b/c he missed his turn or someone will get into the lane of oncoming traffic on curves to let people around. It really boggles my mind b/c it's just stupid and dangerous. Just drive along people!

On the same note, my husband's JK horn sounds like a toy, I'm wondering if he got it clogged up with mud!

Anyway, this is quite a motivator to be considering a new horn My dad's truck has a horn that has three levels of loudness, I think that's pretty cool

Sounds cool to me, drox. I'm wondering if it's something I can easily figure out how to do (with no mechanical knowledge) or if something comes with the horn or if the parts store might offer any guidance?

Horn Sound Files?

Can anyone recommend a site where I can listen to sounds of different horns? I'd like to know what the various ones sound like before I purchase something. Thanks in advance for any tips!

** I found that Sonic Electronix has sound clips of their air horns, I'll be honest - I don't know that I like this high pitch of this one, http://assets.sonicelectronix.com/so...kleinn/991.wav but at least it is loud

cool, thanks! Right now I (well we, Greg had to help cause my hands aren't strong enough!) are taking the round metal plate off under the horn cover or whatever to clean up in there. maybe that will fix the current issue.. WikiAnswers - How do you fix the horn in a 1994 Jeep Wrangler if it is not the fuse and no wires are loose

Okay, so my horn is not wired like that link explained. All rusted though, I couldn't get the third screw loose at all. I finally decided to run to my mechanic who is literally right around the corner. Turns out I have two horns, one is bad and blew the circuit so he discounted the bad horn for now. And he cleaned up the nasty rusted metal plates in the horn at the button that pushes the wiring I guess. They are going to find me a new horn and next week I'll be getting lotsa things fixed!

I picked up a Harbor Freight "Ooogah" horn for my yj. 110db was better than the stock bicycle horn, and it draws attention which is what a horn is supposed to do.

You might also look into a set of horns from 70's-80's Lincoln's or Caddy's. They had some punch when you use them.

Went to Harbor freight got the chrome dual tone horn, on SUPER sale $7.99 now it sounds just like my 150 Bronco did... the OOOOOGA horn is always fun, you can find those for like $9.99. If you are wanting to go REAL BIG JC Whitney make a 3 Trumpet Train Horn that does not need onboard air, it has a direct drive instant compressor. never heard one and they run in the $150 range...

I went to visit my uncle a few years back that lived out of town and he made fun of the horn that was on the jeep. He said when we get back to my house I have a horn for ya. It was off a locomotive. It was freaking huge!!! It was a 3 trumpet one. We hooked it to my compressor that I already had on the jeep and you should have seen the reaction to the people that I used it on. The worst were the people that were at a local bus stop that were in one of those plexiglass booths waiting and they looked like they messed sheir shorts when I honked.

One like that will certainly get your point across!
