interesting trip to NC...
well just got back from outterbanks this past weekend.. was a interesting vacation...the vacation itself was great the relaxing. but driving sucked, poor 95 yj w/ the 2.5 engine...
left Ohio about 7pm. got about 200miles from home then check engine light came on. coolent temp was cool, as well as oil pressure etc..engine sounded fine so after stopping and taking a look we kept on. came on 3 more times on way down. on way back didn't come on @ all so figure some stupid sensor tripped.
down side is jeep doesn't get out of it's own way..lol... on flat road get to about 65-70mph. (down hill about 80-85..lol) any kind of incline drop to 40-50 (sometimes less).. alot of the time had to drop into 4th gear and even 3rd on some inclines.. i wish i had a 3.5 gear...lol... get to about 45-50 in 3rd @ about 3k-3.5k rpm then go to 4th and drop to 1.5k. nothing like using the truck lane whole time it was there. fun way to find gearing is wrong lol.
i guess it's a good excuse to change alot of things w/ the jeep now. was thinking of droppin a V8 into the YJ. a friends got a ford 351 he's willing to part with for cheap. issue is idk if ford makes a good maunal tranny. i know most either go w/ a 4L or a chevy 350, when they are doin a swap. i thought a 351 would be a interesting change something different. but as always if tranny sucks no point to do it.
wondering what ppl thought and why. also right now idk how much i plan to go off roading w/ the YJ it's my daily driver so any sugestion on gears etc i should be looking into?
little info... it's a 95 YJ wrangler (2.5L) w/ a 4" suspension lift and 32X1150X15 tires. as far as i know gears/rest of jeep are stock but after my trip not 100%sure on that.
glad the jeep made it home after that trip...lol
