interior lights

i have a 93 and noticed tonight that there is two wires going to some type switch of just above the upper door strap. the hole is drilled out like it was a striker that when the door opens the inerior light would come on. is there such a thing? l did not have this on my 89. it has hard lower doors.

Yeah, there is a switch for the interior lights when the doors opens. I pulled the connector off mine a few days after I got it and never reconnected them. The lights are pretty useless, and when going doorless you need to disconect them anyway, or they'll stay on. The switch is a standard spring-loaded push button arrangement.

Just search for Door Jamb Switch on Google and you'll find many. There are OEM parts, other switches and even Amazon has a motorcraft switch that looks like it would work just fine. Oddly, the big jeep parts vendors didn't seem to carry this. One good thing I found about my YJ is that a lot the parts they used are pretty generic. Just look at the tailights for instance.

I found this OEM parts dealer. Never used them, but they seem to have it all.
