Is there a write up for Radiator R&R somewhere?

Hello,

I'm replacing my radiator and I'm looking for a comprehensive, idiot proof write up on how to do it...

I am a novice when it comes to more than basic maintenance and I don't want to mess anything up!

Thanks!!

95 automatic w/ 2.5 engine

It's for a Tj with a 6 banger and manual tranny but you could try this one.

It's really not a difficult job.

I have a 92 so it might not be that different. It was really easy.

  • Unhook the battery
  • Take the fan shroud off -- 3 bolts per side
  • Place a drain pan under the bottom radiator hose and another one under the radiator passenger side (for the radiator drain valve)
  • Unhook the bottom radiator hose and let drain out
  • Unscrew the drain valve on the radiator and let drain
  • Unhook the top radiator hose and the other hose that goes to the overflow tank
  • There's a few bolts that hold the radiator on...unbolt those and pull radiator up and out
  • Replace everything and fill with coolant
  • Let the Jeep run while filling with coolant as the level drops
  • Check coolant level for the next few days just in case

Oh yeah --- go ahead and replace the radiator hoses while you're in there too.
