Jeep cover with soft top on (down but on)

I have a 1992 Wrangler Sahara with a Bestop soft top. . .Every time I take the top and doors off it rains...or it seems to. I am looking for a good quick cover to throw on so I donít have to keep putting it all back together. Preferably a top that is waterproof so I can just leave it on when not in use. Any suggestions? Thanks!

bestop, rugged ridge, vdp (vetrically driven products), and weather lite make good quality cab covers.

Quick cover

Well, if you go to quadratec.com they have 3 or 4 types of water resistant "quick covers". Check it out, I love this site all kinds of ways to blow your money.

Alot of those covers you use
the rails for the soft top
so soft top needs to be gone
or you can just use some bungie cords
to wheel well

I have this one;

Bestop 81037-09 - Bestopģ All Weather Trail Cover in Charcoal for 97-06 Jeepģ Wrangler TJ - Quadratec

Don't know if I've ever used it with the top still attached, I usually just rip the whole top off once it warms up, but it seems like it'd fit.. Works great completely waterproof, I've had several inches of water pooled on top, not a drop got in!

^I also have the Bestop Trail Cover on my YJ and love it. It is the only completely waterproof cover on the market-all others are weather resistant. It keeps the inside of my Jeep completely dry even in huge storms. The only problem I have with it is water pools up in the middle which bothers me. It still doesn't leak I want to put something like a sheet of plywood on top of the roll bars to keep it from pooling up. $120 bucks off Ebay from Windrock offroad ( I think is the name of it).

Neither, USS Saratoga, (CV 60), first time around in the sandbox. Most hated ship in the middle east, until she was decom'd.

I took a crappy old broom and cut it to the right length, stick one end in the cup holder, let what is left of the broom push up on the cover, no more standing water!

I just picked up a 10' by13' black tarp from Tractor supply.
A few bungee cords keep it from blowing away, just throw it right over your jeep & tie it to the rims.

What's up squids???

26 shop Philly, here!

sgnellett, were you on the Sara in 1981???

More importantly, were you a lower rank at the time?

If so, we may have met. I was about 18 at the time, & made friends with many of my firewatches!

I like to tease y'all about yard duty, "it's not just a job, it's an adventure"!!!

But secretly, I wish I had a chance to be on a carrier, while it was in service.

Just wasn't sure I could put up with all the BS that goes along with enlistment. Plus I'm not a good swimmer.

I'm going to keep this quote and use it the next time people accuse Bestop of focusing too much on JK owners and not enough on CJ and YJ.

"Bumpers? Yep, we just welded them all up from old fenceposts. Works great."

Hey gang! I'd like to start some conversation around Jeep covers again. Here's my problem, I bought a Bestop cover (like the pictures above) and the first time we had a thunderstorm, the top of the cover filled up with water to the point that it actually touched the carpet in the bottom of the Jeep and, in the process, stretched out the elastic bands that held the cover to the jeep to the point that they lost all of their elsaticity. I solved the problem by using a mop propped up in the cup holder to keep the water from pooling, and that has worked for a while. But the time has come for a new one, since ALL of the elatic has dry rotted.

Here's my question, the very first cover I had (back in 1992) used nylon bands through a ratchet system to help you pull the cover as tight as possible versus elastic straps. Does anyone know of a manufactuer that makes this type of system?

I have had the Bestop Trail Cover for several years now. Never had a problem. Now granted the first two years were CALI and it's only been these past 4 mos in the WA sunshine but still no pooling or problems. Sure you're using all the attachments including the plastic strips that go into the lower side rails etc.? I did add two lines that go under the belly of my rig. The two clips on the door panels don't work with rock sliders on.

Thanks for the advice -- I didn't get any plastic strip attachments when I bought mine, sounds like they may have fixed the problem that I have!

Haha, just noticed this!

Not trying to say anything bad against Bestop by any means Geoff, I love my bikini & soft top that y'all made.

I feel you do have pretty much anything a YJ owner could want for soft tops & related items.

That said, I regret that I can make no apologies for being a redneck.

My front bumper was actually made from an old receiver hitch & a length of pipe left over from a sprinkler system install at a jobsite I was welding at.

You are welcome to quote me any time.

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 trucks under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.
