jeep engine sputter and head light turns off and on

Just bought a jeep two weeks ago, the engine started to sputter and drop in rpms, so I replaced the ignition system, plugs, and disrupter and spark plug lines. The engine still does it but only after running long periods of time. Next problem is the brights turn off and on and when your going 60mph and your lights cut out at night it gets just alittle tricky. Maybe its the ground that needs to cleaned? The problems don't happen at the same time so im not really worryed about a major problem..... hope it isn't..... any idea how to fix them?

Hey I had the same sputtering issue on my 92 YJ n just wanted to share what (with the help of others) fixed my problem.

I took it to three mechanics n they were never able to duplicate the problem so I felt stupid. Lol
A bunch of guys on here helped me n after the mechanics couldn't find what was wrong... I went to Autozone n bought the Repair book n a TPS (sensor that most on here had suggested might b the problem) it was like $35 n my YJ has been running great since. Just my 0.02cents. Takes like 5minutes to replace.

Check all the grounds and battery. Cables at battery could be bad too, sometimes then corrode on the inside and you can't see it.
Sounds like the high beams are drawing too much current and tripping the relay....again check for loose wires and grounds...could also be a bad headlight switch..

I don't know what year/engine you have but if you have a TPS there was some good info. on that. If not, I definately agree with Garyk.
