Hey.... My locks are all messed in my jeep, only my side door can lock and unlock... So Iv been leaving all my doors unlocked lately... Well last night someone broke in :/ they made a mess but didn't take anything... It scares me because I have a sub worth over a grand in the back that I don't want stolen! Any suggestions to get my locks working!? Thank you

Door locks on a Jeep YJ with a soft top? The only thing that properly operating door locks on a soft top Jeep will do is keep the honest criminal out. (if there is one out there) 3 seconds with a sharp knife and your side window is gone along with your $1000 sub woofer.

Instead of investing in door locks, try investing in a locking center console to keep anything of value in, and bolt everything else down.

I'd make sure they can't see the sub thru the window, and bolt it down. Motion sensor lights in the driveway are good, and you could get a car alarm. I bought one of those $10 wireless remote motion sensor alarms. I put the sensor INSIDE the jeep and keep the alarm on the nightstand. If anyone goes in the jeep it goes off.

Great idea! I was also thinking of bolting a bar over the sub and then bolting it into the back wheel wells... Like having a bar from one top of the wheel well to the other, as bolt the sub down to that... It would look cool, protect the sub, and be goo for theft...

Good luck. I got a screaming deal when I bought my Jeep because the former owner, who lived in a big apartment complex, had it broken into three times in a year and his radio and speakers stolen each time. He was fed up and wanted a regular car, and I can't say I blamed him.

A motion/vibration sensor sounds like that might do the trick. Of course a thief will tear the heck out of a vehicle trying to steal anything. That's why I never lock mine but I do pull the radio faceplate out whenever I'm in town. I live way up in the mountains, so a thief has to drive a long way to just get to me. :)

Best security advice, don't leave anything valuable in your Jeep and don't lock your doors so they won't slash your windows.
My doors aren't even on from April til October and the rest of the time they're not even locked 99% of the time with the hard top.

From what I've seen most of the times when the locks stop working it's becase their not oiled and are gummed up with dirt. My tailgate lock didn't work when I first bought my 93. I pulled the cover and saturated it with penetrating oil, wiped it down, removed all dirt and lent and then saturated it again while working the lock mechanism with the key. The lock has worked ever since.
