Thumbs up just ordered my RC 4"kit today!!

I can't wait...ordered my lift kit with upgraded nitro shocks, extended brake lines, and NEW bolts....SYE and DS to come at a later date. Gonna look a little hoopty with 30" M/T's, oh well?

I'm going to disagree and say call them back and change the order again. I ran the hydros at first and they were way too soft and I didn't like the body roll I got in the corners (I dumped my sway bars and track bars in the trash). The Nitro shocks were absolutely perfect. Stiff enough for good control on the road, but not a harsh ride at all. I've ridden in a YJ with the performance 2.2 shocks (which Ibuildembig might be thinking of) and they rode rough on the road.

Unless they changed um, I've never had a set of nitros from anyone that rode worth a crap I just ordered a set of hydros from RC about a month ago and they are really nice so far.

I got the hydros back in August of 09 and ran them for around 10 months, so I've been running the Nitros since June of last year I believe. I have no idea if they made changes within that span.

The nice thing about RC was that they cut me a nice deal when I called them up for the different shocks and I was just a regular Joe with a Jeep so it had nothing to do with company connections.

They're good guys. A few of the RC folks are actually over here in Lexington this weekend with some of us at a show.

Make sure you order shock boots as well if you want 'em. The RC Kit does not include them. Also, if you want a new dampener shock to match, replace it while apart.

Yeah I got a stabilizer and YES I got the discount...wooohoo. I have a company truck and can afford to have the Jeep down a few days or more if need be. A buddy of mine may be coming over with some tools as well and a grinder so I don't have to go buy one, although I may get one anyway just to have. I need to go get some PB Blaster as well and plan to do a little SOAKING b4 I get started..I will post some pics as well along the way. Anyone out there ever wire brush the threads of the rusty bolts b4 attempting to remove the nuts? I wonder if that would help as well?

forget the boots. They help cause rust by retaining moisture.

Yeah, wasn't getting the boots- I read on the forum that they seal in any moisture that potentially gets in on the shafts.....and moisture is BAD!

getting the nuts off is the easy part... its the bolts rusting inside the metal sleeves on the springs that will give you grief A lot of times, even with the nut off, it just won't budge. We tried heating, banging, air hammer, no luck. Had to get in there with a 4" cutoff blade and cut the bolts in the slot between the shackle and the leaf spring. (shoot the sparks towards the floor).

Interesting on the boots holding in moisture. I just put mine on last week, they have vents in them to allow them to breath now. Maybe that was an issue and caused them to add the air vent... interesting...

I'm changing my shackles next week and it wasn't much of a debate on buying greasable shackles. to remember to lube them every so often is the trick though btw, does anyone know any approximate cycle on lubing shackles? I was shooting for the same as ball joints but it might be to long of a period.

I first skipped on the boots too by the same story. However keep those rods open didn't seem like a right solution either. So I started looking for some sort of cap or something out of that nature resembling the OEM shock top. Good luck finding those. Anyway, breathable or not, I ended up ordering the boots (order classic black if you have issues with color implying something funny ) . My shipment just came in today, haven't even seen them yet, but in my case there won't be a hell lot of moisture to trap there. I guess it's on case to case basis.

I'd assume when you do an oil change and grease the rest of the Jeep, since you have the grease gun out...

You did not use the transfer case drop bracket? Lift looks very good. Now get some dirt on those new springs.

I did use them...had a little hard time getting the 2nd side lined up being by myself. One of the bolts went in but the skid plate wasn't pulled back enuf and slightly crushed the recessed part of the skid plate? May have to get a 2nd person, loosen the bolts and pull back to let the bolt(s) get recessed in the correct spot. The other 2 are ok. It doesn't move or anything.

Did you order the lift straight from RC?Glad I read this I knew nothing about the Jeep discount. As far as Mikemyj's sag issue I have read in the forum about other RC leafs sagging, you can call em up and they will replace your leafs. That is what I've read about RC is that their customer service is second to none
