Just picked up jeep on trade.... see what yall think

hey
A couple of months ago i finally got a wrangler. i had been looking for one for a couple years now but never found one i liked. but finally i found someone that wanted to trade and the jeep looked very good in pictures. i was told very little about this jeep. he said it had 9 inch's of lift. and that it had 35s. from looking around on here and of others rides i think mine falls a little short of what i was told. I'm fairly new to wranglers. but what ive gathered so far is that its got 3in. body lift. not sure on suspension lift. 35in interco truxus mt. i was seein if yall could help out and take a look and see if i was told right. thanks alot. the forum has been a ton of help so far. -Moe

howdy, my guess is those were 4" springs at one time but are tired now, with huge shackles on them now, and at least a 3" body lift.

do some searching and lookin around, get an idea of what you like, you may wanna make a fresh start on that thing.

Looks great to me. I like the bead lock wheels and is that thing rhino lined on the outside? I would lose the 3" body lift..it looks like you go to a 1" and it would fit and look better. Just my opinion though.

I'd get rid of the huge lift shackles on it. They good for nothing but bending springs. Like some of the others said I'd also get rid of the the body lift. Other than that, it is a great looking YJ. Are they real beadlocks or are they just the simulated ones?

I agree with what's been said, and I hope when you go for a fresh start...you don't find the thing has been bastardized my some ignorant ass. What kind of lift are you looking for? SoA is probably the best in the long run, and there are many ways to go about it.

I personally don't mind the shackles and think that they help offset some of the winch weight in the front. Upon closer look it could use a rear bumper too.

Good looking YJ. I agree on getting rid of most of the body lift, just keep 1" inch of the BL on it.

That a great looking jeep. If its in your budget, I would reccomend getting some new springs, either bds or old man emu 2.5" springs as they're the best you can get, and they have awsom warranty's on them most of the time if they sag they will send you new ones. As also stated I would get rid of the 3" bl and go to a 1", and change out the shackles for some 5/8's" boomerang shackles. What motor and gears do you have? All in all a great jeep, I wish I couldve found one like that. O and I'm curious also, what did you trade for?

thank you for all the input. It's a ton of great info. yeah I'm thinking about custom building my own bumpers for it. (it'd help me work on my welding too.) For springs what all do you recommend and would i be able to keep the 35's possibly 36's. The shackles on it aren't that great. i definitely need to upgrade them as well. The wheels are the semu-beadlocks. Now to the body lift (hate body lifts haha.) but if i drop those 2 inches will i have to look into new fenders to fit the 35s or just go to a smaller tire. I love the stance of it now with these tires. it flexes well for sagged springs. (will post pictures soon)............................................. ........Heres the answer to the trade for question (don't laugh to hard now) 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gst

you could keep that same stance with a spring over and 1" body lift. and you think it flexes good now, try that.

Thanks, And I agree 100% the Jeep is alot more fun to drive. What year is your YJ ? And I like the air snorkel, Does it create a blind spot? You had a good looking Eclipse but I think the Jeep was a good swap. When I read your thread on how you aquired your your Jeep, I couldn't believe we both traded Turbo Eclipses for the Jeeps. LOL...Thats Good stuff.

x2. Build your own SOA kit. I think you might be happy with this setup...

SOA, 1-2" lift springs, 1" shackles, and 1" body lift.

I am new to this jeep thing as well- and I have to ask-- why is everyone so down on the body lift? after spending most of my day yesterday on this site- It seems that changing the suspension around creates other issues? A body lift would not effect the driveline at all. --correct?

and BTW- great looking jeep!
