I have a 94 yj i want a 2.5 inch or a 3 inch lift kit. Is rough country a good place to start?

Rough Country is not that bad for the price you pay. But you know the saying you get what you pay for. Rough Country is notorious for a stiff ride due to there shocks. It is a complete lift kit but its about as basic as it gets unless you choose some of the add ons. Like sway bar disco's, extended brake lines, hardware, shackles, sye, cv driveshaft. And the 4 inch lift is just as expensive as the 2.5 inch lift. But your going to want to change out those shocks after the first week of driving it.

After several thousand miles since last late winter on rough back roads/trails, I am happy with the RE 2.5 in standard I installed. Inlcuded everything needed - brake extensions, discos, good shocks, TR drop. At 2.5 inch, it didn't require a SYE/drive shaft. I added heavy duty greasable shackles about an inch longer than stock. Total lift was closer to 3 inches.

I have the 4 in lift from rough and country and the ride is amazing. and not too stiff. tire size does have an effect on the stiffness

Stick with the hydraulic shocks. I originally paid additional for the nitrogen shocks and was unhappy with the ride. A bit stiff for my taste. I switched to hydraulic shocks and the ride impoved greatly.
