Maaco paint?

I bought a set of full doors for my hardtop but the only problem is that there red and my jeeps white. I went to a place today and they said it would be around $350 or more for each door.

Has anyone had there doors painted at Maaco and if so what did it cost? I won't be able to get down there for about a week so I was just wondering what to expect.

I got my whole jeep quoted for about 500 at maaco (minus the hard top). Intact I'd rather do that than just have the doors painted because the doors will look different from the rest of the jeep.

Ya but I hear that there paint jobs don't last long. my paints in good shape so I'd hate to have it painted then a year later it starts peeling and fading. Did you have yours painted or did you just get a quote?

I had a Jeep painted at Maaco 15 years ago and it looked great at first. Then you look closely and you notice overspray everywhere. Then after a few months it becomes a "20 footer" looks good from 20' away but up close looks like crap!

Granted this was 15 years ago, I guess its possible they are better now. A good paint job is not cheap at all.

Paint the doors black. The black and white mix looks good and you don't have to worry about an exact match. Do the front fenders at the same time.

I'd rather have them white. I'm not worried about them coming to an exact match.

Oh if your paints good, don't let maaco touch it lol. I didn't get it painted yet but I don't think I'm going to have them paint it. I'd rather do it myself to be honest. The spray on a sealant, then the paint. And if you move up to like 800 bucks theyll put a clear coat on it. But why in the world are they so cheap? Because theyre not as good as many other places. It's more a less quantity over quality with them.

Try spraying the doors yourself. Just a thought. I might do my jeep myself.

Paint them yourself. PPG Shopline is good for a home job. I think you can even get it made up in spray cans.

Scuff them with 320 grit. Clean them good and then paint/clear. It's not hard especially on small parts.

Just make sure your not spraying when it's humid or too cold.

Get some De-greaser to wipe on the doors prior to sanding and before each step. Also get a primer you can sand. Painted the whole jeep last year, good prep is the key. Also make sure the welds just above the door handle at the point the lower door section joins the thinner window frame are good.

I just went to a local paint shop that I've had things painted there before and he said he would do both doors for $350. This is some one I know will do a good job, he's just very hard to get a hold of.
