Manual Transmission Fluid...

Ok I'm confused. I thought manual transmissions used gear lube. My transfer case on my Jeep has been leaking really bad the last couple days. The fluid coming out is red though. I asked a friend and he said that wasn't right, but according to "Advance Auto Parts Specialists" the late 80's early 90's manuals used Dextron and not gear lube. Can anyone shed some light on this before I pull the transmission this weekend to start my "seal replacement process".

Thanks!

Ok according to the Hayne's the tranny uses gear lube and the transfer case uses Mopar ATF.
