max weight for towing

If I were to find/modify a class 3 or 4 reese style hitch to my jeep what would be the max the jeep could handle. it a stock 4 cyl with the posi lock. I am curious because I am gonna be buying a boat and am not sure what my limits are with out having to buy somthing to pull the boat. Thanks

no need to find a class 3 or more hitch, a wrangler can't tow much, and especially a 4 cyl. the wheel base is so short, and the suspension is soft and not designed to tow. your owner's manual should address tow capacity, but i think 1500 lbs is a lot for a wrangler.

My 4 Banger, though new to me, sure don't seem like it would tow much, or for very long. But it sure has been a hoot, the last couple of days. I am pretty easy on vehicles. I just like to tool around in tha thing, and blow it's "Ahoga horn at tha Gals.
