Hood pins installed cause I won't have fenders to tie the side latches to.

8.8 work begins, got it stripped, tubes and other stuff welded up too. Plus a pile of parts to throw on it.

Also started working on my "fenders".

8.8 , 4.10 gears, open diff, disc brakes = $129.00
Spring perches = $20.00

Total so far = $149.00
Add $146 for new rotors, pads, all the ebrake hardaware, new ebrake shoes, outter bearing and seals.

So total is $295.00

Getting new performance clutch pack kit for the lsd is around $100 and new "cool" diff cover is ?

Should have just under $500 in it and it will be like it just rolled out of detroit!

Got my u bolts made. $25+ $25 in paint and other supplies. + 60 for the new lsd clutch pack.

Setting at $405. I think i'll be over $500 now. LOL!. It adds up fast. I still need to do brake line and ebrake stuff, and a nice diff cover.

I'll be making my own u bolt plats with skids as well as shock tabs. Socost should be minimal there. I already ave a bnch of 1/4" and 1/8" plate.

Pics coming soon.

Thanks man! It's a dog with the 4 cyl but I mostly am in town with it. No more than 50 mph so I deal with it. I would like to regear but I am also searching for a donor Chevy to get a 5.3. I think the gears will be ok with a v8. I need to get all my updates on here. Been lazy. LOL.

Lol I hear that. Thats the same reason I haven't considered a regear. 4.10 and a 5.3 is a good combo

What's the obsession with the 5.3? I'd do at least a 5.7 if not bigger

@ Commando Solo, 5.3s are in my mind the easiest found LS(genIII) motor, came in silverados, tahoes, trailblazers and such from 99-to present. very plentiful and alot cheaper than a 5.7 LS motor, which only came in cars camaro corvettes and such. plus a Lsx 5.3 will produce more horse power and more reliable that a regular 5.7 350 gen II motor in stock form

I can see the logic, thanks for sharing. I've seen so many 5.3 builds and didn't know exactly why. carry on

I am looking for a good donor truck. I want the wiring, ecu, trans... all of it. I'll part, discard or scrap what i don't need. Ideally i'd like a 6.0l but they are just harder to find. The little 327 will do me great!

I have been bad about updating this thread...

I have done some work. Here is the stuff i have for now. Front fender work and new wheel paint scheme, riddler diff cover painted for the 8.8 too IIRC.

The fenders turned out great. Are they done or do you still need to add a flare of some kind?

They are done. No flares. We have no fender laws here. Thanks!

They are tied into the frame in 3 places. They will also be hooked to eachother under the hood with a removable bar. They are also bolted to the rock sliders. The sliders will be tied to the frame as well with the roll cage frame supports. She should be able to take a beating.

Thanks! I like the square too, you just don't see it used that often. I'd do a square roll cage if they sold square DOM. LOL! It kinda fits the square boxy-ness of the yj too IMHO.

Plus it's super cheap, $.35 a pound, and easier to work with than round sometimes.

It's riddler. I smoothed off the logo and also machined all the holes with a flat land. Then paint.

Thanks!

I have been so busy i have been off the net for a while. I have gotten a lot done. I have about 800 pics to go thru yet.

Small list...

Flat skid, done
led rear lights and front markers, done
rear fenders cut way out, almost done
8.8 is 100% with ebrake, done
custom shock mount bar, done
new exhaust, 50% done
front fenders 100% buttoned up
Electric fan 60% done, mounted but needs wired
steering box brace, done
rear cage to frame support,s 50% done. Doing those now for when the "real" roll cage goes in.
Relocated rear gas filler due to fender cut outs. 100% done

Lots of little things also here and there. As soon as i go thru the pics i will post them. Sorry it's been so long.

Thought those were TSLs, where did you get the rims from? I've been looking for a set of wagons.

I got the rims and tires from a local dude for $500. They are not hub centric but i made hub rings to make them hub centric. Other than that they are great and were cheap. I sold my 5 32" bfg's for $900.
