OKay, in case people don't actually look at the newbie forum. I need some help. I just got a jeep off my buddie, and he dropped a new 6 in it. And well, he didn't know where all the vacuum lines go, and did some wiring bullshit that has fried a fusable link. I can't even get it to turn over now, it just clicks. Further, he stripped a bolt on the manifold. Now I'm stuck with a leak that makes me stall out. ( note, its not the throttle body, we fixed that already). But right now, I'm so pissed I'm about to throw a wrench through the side of the windshield that isn't cracked, can anyone lend a hand?
I am not really sure what you are asking here... If you are looking for a vacuum diagram, the first step would be to buy a factory service manual. They are great for reference if you are doing a lot of work on the Jeep yourself. If the starter is just clicking and not turning over, have you tried swapping the starter? I know that around here some of the auto parts stores will even test them for you if you take them in (will need it for a core exchange anyway). This is an easy removal/swap. I don't really know what else you are looking for, so I will wait until tomorrow for more information... Good luck!

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!
It's an 89 wrangler loredo. I don't even know about the engine, its the same kind of engine that was in it before, only with less miles. The guy that put it in didn't hook up any of the vacuum lines. It was starting up yesterday, but since a fuse went from a power wire (from the radio) touching metal on the body, it seems like a fusable link is dead.
Thanks to the guy who said get a factory service manual. Where can I get one of those. I'm so dumb when it comes to any car but fords.
Well, I would check all the fuses if you have not done so.. I think one of the other guys posted a vacum line diagram in the new-be section for ya. That might help too. Should it come down to it I think you can buy a whole new wiring harness, from painless wiring if its really messed up.

Well I hope you got a helluva deal if you got a pile of parts like this from a buddie.
As far as the electrical make sure that nothing is grounding on the frame or the firewall. You probably have something that is grounding out a connection. But I believe someone mentioned the starter. You could've burn it up with the electrical issue so you might want to check that also.
The vacuum lines are a real PITA in my book. But just be patient and follow the diagram and you will get that worked out.
Is there anyway you can drill the bolt in the manifold and use an easy out to get it out there? And I would think that if you had an exhaust manifold leak on the head then it would make engine spike to the rev limiter when you started it?
And finally on my little rant, why in the hell would someone take the 4.2 out and put another one back in? However it must be a newer one than the 89 though since it seems to have TBI on it instead of being carb'd. Don't feel too far from home being a ferd gal because a lot of the CJ parts are ford. AMC was getting parts from everywhere they could towards the end of their run.
Oh, and moderators can you move this to the YJ section please.

Thanks soo much you guys. I'm beginning to hate this thing, when i first saw it I loved it cause it was just a little POS that I could play with. I had no clue it was going to die two days later in front of my house. When i Turn the key, it just makes a little click click click. My boyfriend found where it's clicking and is gonna check everything with a volt meter. Todays project is get a digital cam, take pics of everything, and maybe post them so you guys can have your hearts wrenched out. Then maybe know what goes where. I'm gonna check out that diagram. My man will be super thankfull if thats up. Now, onto that bolt. It's the exhaust manifold bolt, the one on the back of the engine, drivers side. Can hardly even get my little hand back there to try to put it in, much less a tap to re thread it. Any thoughts on that besides ripping the engine out, taking the 302 from my cougar and dropping that in there. (that would never happen.)
alright...i have a plan. you send me your 302, i'll send you my 2.5 that runs like a champ and all will be good. sound good? great!! anyways, defintely post some pics on here. i know that always helps out.
Part with that? HA. Yeah right. We only payed $400 for our mercury, and it's a fucking champ. I'll have to get pics of it too. And a sticker for the car that says my other ride is a jeep. But other than that I'm soon going to need a sticker for the jeep that says please don't tow me. Anyways, if anyone sees me on AIM hit me up and talk to me about my poor little jeep. AliJtown2005
