Man for a grand it sounds like what I bought for 3K and I didn't even know if it ran. I say go get a used tranny for a few hundred bucks and bolt it in.

maybe the 3" body lift is letting the stick hit the tub when you are shifting? i would put a 1" or stock body lift on it and see if your tranny works like it should then because i bet the is 100 percent of your trouble

It doestnt hit at all... Just does it randomly. I'll be driving down the road then come to a stop and try putting it in 1st or 2nd and it won't. No rub or hitting

May want to see if your shifter boot is interfering with movement. May be part of your problem. Old boots get hard. Otherwise the tub is worth the grand you spent alone.

Sounds to me like the bearings are wore out it in the tranny and not keeping everything lined up properly. That clunk you hear is more than likely everything settling back into place which then allows you to shift into the next gear fairly smooth.

Changing the bearings is basically the same as a rebuild since you have it open you might as well replace all the syncros and seals also
