N00b question re: battery charge

Should I be able to start with a sitting charge of just under 12 V? Drops to about 11 when I turn the key.

See my other post if you're curious about details: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f8/repl...art-31007.html

Long and short is, after diagnosing and fixing another problem (I think), it still won't start, and I'm hoping I just ran the batt down trying to start all those times before I changed wires.

Just read your 1st post other thread. You mention a humm (dead humm)?
A fully charged battery should be over 12.6v and cranking volts really shouldnt drop below 10v. Your dropping one volt sounds like a ground issue especially if your hearing a humm.
