National Post Office Museum

I have just returned from Washington DC. While I was there one of the places that I visited was the National Post Office museum. I was very disappointed to find out that they DO NOT have a postal Jeep on display. They had the stupid Gumman LLV but no Jeep. What the hell ? OK I feel better now.

Its right next to Union Station, which I really did want to see. I do have to admit to being a bit of a history buff so I really did enjoy the postal museum too.

The DJ5 is really under appreciated....sad to hear the US gov. with their flagrant disregard for overspending didn't see fit to put $5k into getting a fully restored nice example for the museum!

One of my goals is to make a DJ5 into a RHD rock crawler!

That is surprising.
My first Jeep was a DJ5 (altho a left hand drive). Had the sliding doors. Kinda cool really. It had a 2 speed automatic transmission that wouldn't quit. 156 cu in motor (4 cylinder) Posi-traction rear diff, but did NOT have 4WD. I had oversized tires on it (we used to call them 60's) and I couldn't slide the door open while driving as they would rub. Wish I had a picture - it was fun, but I don't miss it... now that I've got a YJ.
