Need a New Engine

So it turns out my Engine (4.0L Inline 6) is on its last legs. Has a bad knock noise to it and mechanic says it is a wrist pin. He said to drive it till it dies and put a Refurbish one in. Quoted me about 3 g's with labor and parts etc. He recomended to go with a Jasper Rebuilt. Anybody know where else to get a refurbished one for a little cheaper? The jasper engine would cost me $2,200 and dont want a junkyard engine. Thanks

Myself I would look for a totaled vehicle (put the word out with your friends) or a cheap repossessed vehicle that has a 4.0 in it. Might be able to find something this summer that is a water damaged vehicle. Just a thought.

I just had to replace my motor in my 1990 jeep (4.2 6 cyl) and got a rebuilt one from autozone for 1,500. Ive ran it for almost 4,000 miles and its still running strong and smooth.
Good luck!

Why not just go find a wrecked XJ with the 4.0 and swap it out. They are the same motors. A few of the sensors may be located in different spots depending on the year, but that is it.. I see them in the JY all the time with less than 100 k miles. I understand you dont want a JY motor but even with one from a JY for ,say 300 bones, you would still come out alot cheaper rebuilding it and using it than buying one for 1500-2200+ mech labor..
