i have a 92 jeep wrangler and there are some sounds that dont sound to good during take off. In low rpms and especially in first gear when i start off there is a sqeaking noise that sounds like its coming from the back. I thought it may be my brakes but the sound stops when i get to a steady spead or the rpms are high. Any ideas of where this sound may be coming from or what may be wrong?
check the rear drive shaft u-joints. i had the u-joints on mine go bad and it made some pretty funky noises that seemed to disappear at high rpms. it didnt actually disappear it was just muffled by the engine. if it is the u-joints it will be a $20 investment.
thank you for the advice. at first i thought the transmission was going bad. hopefully it is just the u-joints. my wallet will appreciate fixing the u-joints rather than the tranny
check out the wheel bearings as well. you might need to grease them up
