As I posted in new member forum, I want to purchase a YJ but dont know a whole lot about them. They told me about looking for rust on frame and around windshield... I found this one on ebay... what do you guys think?? thanks again just wanting to get a good buy. I wanted the 4.0 but I guess I can live...

Welcome -and it looks to be in very good condition and stock ( no mods done). It would make a decent platform if you wanted to improve it. Just to let you know, I'm not sure any jeep, even the 4 cylinder is fuel efficient?? If you are really looking for a nice YJ- this looks to be good. E-Bay can get tough though, the jeeps really go on there and some heavy bidding could occur towards the end. I live in PA and if it has passed inspection your frame should be fine. I purchased mine from E-Bay and paid $4100 for it until it was all said and done. It was really worth it though- I love the Jeep and I like the YJ. I had a TJ before this one. Do you live in PA?

looks like a good start. 4 cyl is not effecient, gets about the same as 4.0. for that buy it now price you can find a 4.0 w/ same or less miles.

4 cyl is not as nice as 6, people that have had both will tell you. if its close thats a factor to. i'd hold out for a 4.0

That Jeep also has fresh paint. The driver door was red and I see overspray on the passenger side door. The rear shot also shows fresh paint, notice the tag holder/gas flap nice and shiny. Another spot to check and appears to show rust in the pic is on the inside seam near the front bottom of the door on the tub, right above the carpet edge. Keep posting them up we will help.

yeah buddy hold out for the 4.0 i didn't think it would matter, and i dumped an extra 2500 swapping the 4.0 from the 2.5, i did it myself but still it was costly. as long as it has the 4.0 and no rust don't worry about anything else. the build up is the fun part and you'll learn alot about your vehicle. it'll be good for you.. good luck though

Ya I noticed the red on the driver door too but I'm not seeing the overspray on the passenger side door.

I would hold out for a 4.0L if I was you. I did and I'm glad I did. It took me a month longer to find the 4.0L that I have but It was well worth it. I drove a 2.5L later and was SOO glad I held out for the 4.0L.

Remeber jpdocdave--
be weary of diamond plate or any fancy covers, they could be hiding sins.

Crowe, are you looking for a stocker or something already built?

well id take stock but i honestly would like to find something with just a small lift say 3" and a nice aggressive off road tire and wheel combo.. but Im realistic on my price range as well. So Im trying to hold out for a 4.0 with manual trans. and if it has any mods then lucky me.

More built is going to cost you more money to purchase. If built you want to know the brand of the mods. You are also looking for a Jeep at typically an expensive time for them. Summer fun with the top off makes the price go up. I purchased my YJ completely stock a few years back for $3200 and it was rust free other than the windshield frame and came with a couple different top styles. 4.0 with manual tranny and no a/c. Keep looking, you will find one.

well i found a nice 93 yj with no rust anywhere. it has a very solid frame. it has been owned by an older gentleman and says it has never been off road and it looks it. it has all terrain tires with newer wrangler wheels. only downside is it has a 4cyl engine but only 140,000 miles on it. he said its not really for sale (as he owns a car lot but he would let me have it for $3500) it is by far in the best shape of any i have seen im just hating the 4cyl

yeah buddy really try to hold out, i know the wait sucks, now dare i say this in the lions den...but if you trying to wheel, then a 4.0 xj ( cherokee) can be had for next to nothing, auto or manual it is amazing, i've seen them out wheel a wrangler with 4 inch lift and 33's, the wheel base is really good and they are stout jeeps. its still a jeep, you just can't loose your top. the point is your off road in a jeep having fun. whatever it is you get in, make sure it has a 4.0 and again, good luck and hold out for the better deal
