New visitor here, I just found your site. I've wanted a Wrangler since I was in high school and now (some 15+ years later!) finally sealed the deal. I picked up a 95 YJ with a 4 cyl and 120K for (what I think was) a song. It's got a little rust here and there, but nothing serious. Runs fine so far.
This will be a summer car for me and the kids, so I'll be looking for some kind of softtop. I haven't done enough research to know what kind yet. How do you all store your hardtops over the summer? Anything special? I wouldn't be surprised if this one has never been off the jeep since it was listed on the original sticker, which I got with the car.
I'm sure it will need a little work to pass inspection, and the serpentine belt is going. I went to pick one up and I couldn't believe how many varieties there are. They asked me how many idlers it had?? I said I'd take it off and just bring it in.
The exhaust has a nice rattle from a loose cover on the catalytic converter, but other than that, the belt and some rust work, I'm just starting to think about it. I'm sure some wheels and tires will be early on the list.
Is it worth my while to pick up the Chilton's book?
Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. I'll be here and reading along. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, or pointers to good places to get started, I'm all ears.
