New leaky Jeep owner

I just got a '94 from my "Aunt" Bonnie, like 10 minutes ago. I'm so excited. I've wanted a Jeep Wrangler since I was a very little girl. However it's leaky! There is a rather large puddle in the passenger side. I have located the drain plug, but I'm not sure how to dislodge it. Now I know it is a fairly simple device, but I'm hoping there is a trick to it. Anyone?

If you are talking abouit the drain plugs in the floor then you should be able to just slide a screw driver under it and pry up or grab the edge with some needle nose pliers to pull it out.

Oh, I had put the ? on there because I was wondering how anyone could actually determine where the YJ was leaking from. I don't think it has places that are leaky so much as places where it leaks a little less.

Not my pic, but this is usually the culprit of water on The YJ passenger floor.

It's the drain tube for the cowl vent;

The other end opens right over the starter on the 4.2L, & you need to clean it out.

. i like you assessment better than mine. we (jeep people) must be a rare breed to be able to put up with all of the little "nuances" of our rigs. if any of my friends or family (other than the hubby) had water inside their vehicle they would freak and take it to a mechanic. hell, what are drain plugs for, right?

You guys are funny! I love this forum.
The leaking is coming from the door frame on the passenger side. I saw it dripping yesterday. Oh I forgot, my baby has a duster/windjammer on it. So the water comes in from the back, too. I'm looking for a full top. What do you all think; what's a good one?

bestop is the best top (no pun intended). your best bet is to check ebay or craigslist for a used top. it will save you a few hundred bucks. as far as the leak, having a full soft top on there will make it leak less, but on days that it rains hard you still might get some leakage on the inside.

Hey 87YJWrangler, thanks for the offer, but you probably don't want to trade. I found out that it's a Rampage. I understand that they're junk. But it's dark grey if you're interested.
