New to wranglers. Is this a good buy?

Looking to buy this wrangler. The guy is asking me for $4800. It is as clean as it looks on the out side, inside, and underneath. Runs just as well. It is a 95 2.5L with 89000 miles. Please let me know what you think.

I think those are horrible pictures. I have a 2.5 5 speed and as long as you can live with 120hp I think its a great vehicle.

Sorry not really sure how to post better pictures on the forum. In short, the jeep was garage kept in the winter and drove in the summer. very minimal surface rust on the out side and underneath. virtually no run inside. Thanks again for the input.

Doesnt seem too bad of a deal; although I think the price is a bit high. Around here the price should be about 4000-4300 ish.

In long island, new york. Looked at about 20 yjs this week. Seems like any thing under 5k has bad rust or mechanical problems. Plus not to mention everything here is expensive. Thanks for the reply.

price will vary greatly.. if its good bad on the others you have looked at based on price and condition then its a good deal.. I would recommend driving a 6cly just to compare.

I'm not knockin the 4 cyls but I picked mine up for $2000 6 cyl 5spd. I know mine case was not and everyday occurance however with the economy what it is I think if you hold out you can probably find a great deal if you price range is $4800.

My opinion is that 4800 is to much especially with the economy the way it is right now. You could pick up a TJ for around 5000 maybe not in as good condition but there is way more demand for a TJ

That depends purely on region. In my area a running rust free yj/cj is 4k minimum. You won't touch a tj for less than 6 and that's a 4 banger. You want a 4.0 you are spending 8-10k.

I live in PA which is a well known rust area. Last week I bought my 94 Wrangler with the 2.5, 5 speed, ice cold A/C, 129K miles with a 1 year old soft top, an extra set of glass slider soft top doors, brand new 31" BF Goodrich Radial T/A's, and a brand new state safety inspection. It also has a nice Pioneer stereo, with a sound bar, new shocks, a decent interior, and a rust free frame.

I picked mine up for $2000.00 because the previous owner had fixed some minor rust spots on the body and then painted over them. The paint didn't match up very well but overall the Jeep is solid and runs nice. I use my Jeep as my daily driver. I'm OK driving an old beater as a daily driver because I have a finished Musclecar in my garage.

Deal are out there you just have to take the time to find them.

I got this for $2000.00....

95 YJ Sahara

I picked up a 95 YJ Sahara with a 6 banger in it off of ebay for $3050 and drove to Long Island to get it a little over a month ago. It had only one small rust spot on one fender, none in the pan, and came with both soft and hard tops and a snowplow. So,,,,, keep looking and I'm sure you can find what to are looking for in your price range. You might want to check ebay... I have done pretty well there.

looked at another jeep. A 1993 4 cylinder manual he is asking me 3800. was a garage for 17 years and looks that way. Had a couple of concerns the front plate on the transmission was bent towards the front of the jeep. and seemed like there was a knock coming from it when the car is running. attached is a picture of it. Thanks for all the advice

Its a dust cover that they have bent some how Idk how but. Unless the flywheel is hitting it should be no noise

Body is great on it, but i am thinking this one is going to turn out to be a mechanical nightmare. If it "did" have power steering i had a hell of a time turning the wheel. Spent 6 years in the Marine Corps and thought hummers turned like crap lol.

power steering was a option on the base model 2.5's in all year wranglers. try looking in neighboring states. I'm on long island and i went to Maryland to get my shiny rust free 93 6cyl/5speed with a hard top and both half doors and full doors, had 93k and only cost me 4700. you can get a much better jeep if you expend a little effort and travel expenses. in truth unless it was showroom new i would not pay more than 3500 for a 4 cyl, their just not worth it. their tough little things engines, but the 6 blows it away in many of the categories. and their comparable in fuel mileage depending how you drive.

I am willing to bet that if you took that flare off you will find a lit more. If you are prepared to have it taken care of then its not too big of a deal. As long s the frame and the floors are good it should be a solid vehicle.

if it was a 4.0 6 I'd take that deal in a second..... low miles for that year though, I'd highly advise to look for a 4.0

If you were to head north and look in NH you can find yjs 4 or 6 cyl varying rust from 2800-5800. I've bought and sold 8 or 9 over the last 5 years, I just sold a 92 yj 6cyl no rust 138k (had some electrical issues) for $3200. I 2nd what STYKTHYN had to say, just find one with a solid frame and solid floors everything else is an easy fix.
