New YJ owner, want some advice before going off-road

Hey everyone, I'm a jeep newbie, I just bought a 94 wrangler 2.5l a few days ago and I'm of course anxious to take it off-road. What are some things i should check before heading to the trails with it. I wont be doing anything too serious , no rock crawling or anything, just kicking up some dust. I just want to make sure I look over everything so i dont end up getting stranded my first time out. Thanks for yalls help.

The best precautions are a buddy w/ a 4X4 and a tow strap.

Then you can drive it hard, find the weak links & fix them before you go solo.

Like he said a buddy is very nice to have. I'm not that lucky to have a friend that has a 4x4 that can go where I do. But even if he rides with u (like my friends ) its a lot better to have someones help. O and I also have warm clothing and my swamp boots haha
