Question Newbie with some wrangler questions...

Ok, I am going to buy a Jeep Wrangler, been looking around...found an inexpensively priced one,$3000, but its is a 4 cyl., and the owners says the 4x4 wont work, and all it needs is a poly Cable? Ever heard of this?

Another question is ,what year did they start coming with fuel injection? Thanks in advance.

He also told me he needs to sell it bad right now and will sell this daily driver for $2000.

2000 sounds pretty good if it isnt falling apart! you can fix the 4x4 for like 5 dollars. if its just the vacume actuator not working. if motor runs strong tranny shifts well and the frame isnt rusted might not be to bad of deal. but after all its up to you!

If he is BEGGING you to buy and drops the price $1000. No.

Keep waiting.

A fully functional Wrangler for that year and the typical 100,000 miles would still be worth $4000 if taken care of.

What is a poly cable?
As long as it has a good tranny and t/c, then 4WD can be restored.

The groveling is suspicious. You aksed, I answered: wait for the next good deal...

3,000 sounds like a bad deal. How many miles does it have? The final production year of that engine was Fuel injected, but that year is a TBI.

I found mine on craigslist, too. But I sifted thru a lot of guys. I saved up all the money and was very patient. I just waited a month til the things I wanted (low miles, clean, nice mods) came up and bam.

If you don't have that luxury and need some wheels fast then I don't know. Owner's behavior is strange to me. Sometimes someone depserate to make a deal is a GOOD thing and this might be. I think the 4X4 is a cheap fix.

Have you got to drive this thing? That would tell you everything you need to know.

No, I havent driven it yet. I am at work offshore, and wont be in for 2 weeks....
You are right...I dont need wheels right now, I have a 2006 F250, that I am not getting rid of,... I just want a Jeep , so I will take your advice and keep searching...
If its that good of a deal, it will be gone by the time I get home in two weeks anyway.

Sounds like the guy is trying to pawn it off on someone. Keep searching. I bought my 91 YJ for 3200 with 120K miles bone stock and well taken care of. All it needed was tires.
