OK..New Yj'r, Probably a dumb question...

ok heres my issue....the hard top.

I recently bought my Yj from a private party, unbeknownst to me the hard top he had on it didnt go to it (same with the Hard Doors) ...i believe it is Older? i think truthfully it seems to be odd size...maybe i am wrong..but either way my problem lies in the front (where it sits on the windshield) it has no latches, or anything like that...when i was driving it home, (i live in minnesota) it was snowing inside on me..lol .

point being..how do i fabricate a latch , or some sort of something that i can use to snug the top down so i can put some screws or bolts to hold it down tight and keep the weather out?

i assume SOMEONE has done this, and im sure ill figure something out, but figured id ask the pros here before i tried my hand at Jerry-rigging it.. thank you in advance for your help .

A SIDE note..:

Anyone know where i can find a reasonable priced Windshield Mount light bar for the top of my YJ?

post up some pic to give us an idea of the top.. the factory ones use screw to hold the front down to the top of the windshield.

ok i will get some pics when i get back to the shop this week..it has holes along the inside of the top, but IMO they look like they were made with self tapping screws, but either way, i cannot get the top snugged down to where i can line the "man made" holes in the top up with the "man made" holes in my windshield frame... i finally got the chance to put the bikini on, so i left the top at the shop, ill get pics of the top, inside and out, and also what im talking about with the "rigged" holes in both the top and the windshield.
thank you in advance

oh, and by the way..when i say that the top "seems to be a diff size", i mean that it looks slightly as though the top of it is wider than my jeep...no alot, just a little, however im not sure if the cj/yj/tj/ differed in size in that aspect or not..i could just be over analyzing because it didnt come with it and i would like to know what im dealing with..lol i found out the hard way that my doors came off a CJ....which was wierd i suppose but wow..lol

You many have a CJ hardtop... does the back window have a metal frame on the outside or is there just one big window?

Sounds like your missing the gasket that goes between the top and windshield frame

undo the back bolts
line up the windshield holes
use self tapping screws with
little rubber washers

Then bolt the back up
mine has sloted holes so you can adjust
it may have been stored wrong
mine dont fit perfect but dosnt leak
