Opinions on diamond plating?

I was thinking about putting black diamond plating rocker panels on my 95 wrangler. What do you guys think?

well i like the black look. but here is food for thought. where you put it will eventually cause rust from water and mud being trapped. you may not care but i do.. so i decided not to.. good luck

I dont have a problem with the black, the bright aluminum is a little too flashy for my taste.

Like it was said above. You have to seal them completely. Any chance that water or moisture can get behind the diamond plate, and it will rot out your rocker panels. Same goes for rock rails or even fender flares. They have to be sealed or taken off on a regular basis and cleaned.

I bought 2 pieces of 3/16 steel tread plate from a local metal supplier. Cost me $60 for both. Had a 3/8 lip bent to add some strength to the bottom. I just need to cut to fit then install once it gets warm. I'm planning on using the body panel epoxy to attach them to the jeep. Try to stay away from aluminum tread plate. It may look nice but the 2 unlike metals speed up corrosion.

This is what I did- bought the diamond plate panels online, put them on, sealed it up along the edges and painted them white (along with the rest of the Jeep)

I have yet to see a yj with diamond plating look as good as a clean stock body, however if your yj needs some body parts that need patching nd your not a pro at it then yes go with the black diamond plate...if your yj has a clean stock body....leave it alone!

I guess I'm in the minority. Not a fan of the diamond plating. I understand and appreciate the intent, but not liking the look.

+2 - flat steel is better. Don't use treadplate.

Look in my sig for my custom rocker guards. I used gasket material between the body and rocker guards.

I like the way it looks but like they said I might take them off & see if I can find bolts to replace the rivets just incase I need to take off and reseal them...but really love the looks & get compliments all the time
