Painting my Yj

Hey guys,

I'm painting my YJ this week, and I was thinking about going with black. I've got a black hard top, and I've got black crager rims on the way. Whatchya guys think? Anyone have a black YJ with a black hard top? Feel free to post pictures of your YJ, I'm open to other suggestion. I'm also planning on repainting the hard top too.

-Mike

Have you ever owned a black vehicle I have, and will never own one again! terrible to keep clean and show scratches bad, They look great when cleaned and waxed.( if you can keep from leaving swirl marks)! but lots of work! I like the look of a lighter solid colored jeep, with back rims and accents! but It is yours to do as you please. I just thought I would offer my 2 cents!

Everyone has to own ONE black vehicle in their lifetime. Its a right of passage. You'll own one and only one unless you are a glutton for punishment and love washing/waxing more than driving.

So, it's a Jeep. Doesn't need to be kept sparkling clean! (Unless it's a Mall Crawler)

Black (IMO) looks good on a Jeep, even if it's a bit dirty!
Just don't rush the prep work. A Jeep, painted black, with the paint peeling, doesn't look that good!!

A dirty vehicle doesn't bother me. My YJ has only been washed 2 or 3 times since i bought it.

I think if I were to repaint my Jeep I'd go with Army Green in a matte finish. It's a classic look, takes dirt well, hell it looks better with dirt, and if you DIY it, it will still look good.

Once you go black.......you never go back. Don't be afraid of the dark.

Love mine dude. I would buy black again for sure.

Hey man, this isn't taco bell!!!

The best color is whatever you like. You're the one driving it.

Mines black on black. When I bought it had a grey top and I went our and bought a black one,, But right now it`s dark here on the best coast so tomorrow a.m. I`ll go out and take a shot of it for you and post it.
I like it better this way which is why I just put my grey top on C.L.

Only good looking black vehicle is one that is painted Flat Black or primer black. They are impossible to keep sparkling and if you are like me eveytime you drop off road your going to pick a new scatch or ding and they are impossible to hide with Black..My favorite color for anything is ghost grey trimmed in black. LOoks great and is very east to hide dings and scratches.

I'm interested in how the paint job goes. I wanted white, but discovered you can only get white in rubi and x. The wife wanted the amenities of the sahara and I didn't want the $$ of the rubi, so ended up with a black sahara unlimited 4 door. I like it and don't mind the dirt showing (yet) but if the cost is right and it's not too much of a hassle, I was thinking of painting it white.

Scratches, dings, and dirt just show I like to drive my vehicle. I wash my car maybe twice a year, and that's before winter and after winter. I went mudding in my YJ and left it there for about 2 months...haha. Those things give you vehicle character.

@kgbuster- I actually thought about white, but my interior would look weird.
