Talking Painting the springs

When I received my 2.5" Old Man Emu new shocks, I had a lot of trouble removing the 20 year old rusty stock springs, so I took my time, and since I had time even more tile to kill, I decided to paint the springs red to match my '93 Jeep color. Since I was at it, I went ahead and painted the front differential cover. Ha!

Here are a few pictures. I think it looks awesome. Yes, it's purely cosmetic, but it's amazing what a few cans of paint can do

Same here! What paint did you use? I did my shocks but not my springs, I might though when I get new ones

Red enamel from Lowes. The key is to degrease everything top notch, so the paint holds well. And many thin layers as opposed to a thick one

Oh, and be careful if you bleed your brakes, brake fluid is harsh on any paint job!!!

How do you like the OME kit? This is at the top of my wish list. Have you ever rode in other lifted YJ's for comparison?

Love the red. My favorite color anyway. Im going to paint mine ( if I ever get the oil pan gasket sealed) Im going with red on springs with gloss black on the axles and red diff. covers. Thanks for the pics, I get to see what it will look like in advance!!

The OME lift rocks!!! I absolutely love it. Yes, I rode other lifts, and while it's difficult to compare the performance on the trails unless you have the 2 jeeps back to back for comparison, I can tell you that the ride is soooo much smoother. It handles very well, and absorbs a lot more that the other lifts, including the stock springs of course.

I use NAPHTA a lot you can buy it a Lowes. Sometimes also MEK solvent for extra strength but be careful, that stuff is powerful!
