Nice find, I dig the black n red I've always loved that mix. As for the 4 banger, some people are satisfied w/ the power it puts out.

The 4 banger has enough power for now. My friend has a 1997 Wrangler with a 4 banger and he gets around okay with it. I own a 1992 Wrangler with the 4.0 straight six and I must say, it has more power and torque than the 2.5 liter, but the 4 seems to be okay for my friend (although he wants to upgrade to a 4.0). My friend has over 180,000 on his 4 cylinder and its still running strong. All he needs to do is replace a lifter. He has 31's on his Jeep as well and is getting a lift kit sometime soon. Just last week, he pulled a Ford F-450 truck off of a rock with his Jeep so that shows the Jeep's got some power

Yeah I heard those 4.3 v6's were good motors. I'd see if I can throw one of those in your Jeep when the time comes. But I'm in the same position as you. The lift kit, the new seats, the stereo, and all the good stuff is coming later on down the road. Tonight I repaired my floor pans. Next is replacing my rotten kicker panels. Then buying new carpeting and dyeing my dash board and seats black. Then putting the interior back together. The list goes on and on lol

You most deffinetly can put a 4.3 V6 in your jeep. But why do that when you can have the extra 2 cylinders and have a 350, I'm actually getting parts together to swap a 350 in mine. Check out novak-adapt.com they have tons of information on there and excellent parts. Thats where im getting all my parts from.

YJman, its hard to find a job nowa days, it toolk me all summer to get a job! did you buy your jeep yourself? and thats cool i have always wanted a wrangler and my dad said dont even think about one when i started looking for another vehicle but its all good now and yea it looks in great condition, thats why when i say it i gave the kid 300 buxs right after school when i got my paycheck haha.

Minigfather, thanks and yea i am luckey, they had another jeep they traded to a friend of mines dad thats stayed outside and rotted and the guy got 2 sleds which he made around 6k for, and the other dad is selling the jeep to my friend for a 1000 so i deff got the better jeep and the other one was standard

Rogertc1, it will be as im not a whole lot good with vehicles altho i used to have a toyota at my sisters that i needed to put a timing chain in and i broke a few things here and there and i ended up junking it bc i was working ppretty much every day so i had no time. and i will hit up santa but my parents are kinda tight on money, so i wont get alot, but i willget something!

PAOffroadMike, thanks, your jeep will be a good project for you! i dont want you to give up on it!!

yjkid95, thats cool you can, yea a 350 v8 would be nice, but how much would the motor cost? and how much would all the parts cost? compaired to a 4.3 v6? as im a full time student right now and i dont know a whole lot about this i will probly have to have a machanic do it bc i dont have the tools to.but down the road i deffinately want to!! no matter the motor i use!

thats alot of typing lol. and im off to work soon, i will check this when i get back!

I know I've been hearing it all over lol. And I payed for part of my Jeep. My dad payed for most of it though and I'm going to pay for insurance. I was going to wait another 6-8 months and buy a Mustang GT but I decided I'd rather buy a car now and get a Jeep I could work on. I also liked the idea of driving around in the snow storms lol. So when I'm out of college I'll buy my Mustang and probably still have my trusty YJ But yeah man, you're real lucky it's been garage kept. I just POR'ed like half the underside of my YJ. It stinks getting POR all over you lol.

Congrats bud.

And the 4.3L chevy motor is also a popular swap motor for yj's. With plenty of aftermarket support from suppliers like Advance adapters and Novak.

As long as you know the "quirks" of the 4.3L and fix or upgrade them they are great motors with huge potential. I get 319 horse (dyno'd) to the wheels on my 4.3 with 35's.

Hard...well that depends on your skill or will to do it I guess bud. I've done lots of motor swaps in all kinds of vehicles. As for welding....the motor mounts will have to be welded in or you can buy a bolt in engine cradle. I would go for the weld in mounts myself. You'll need all the wiring and computers from the 4.3L. If you still have your "wrecked" S-10..it would be a perfect donor. You have most everything there you need. except mounts and a few odds and in's. Even better if it was a 4x4...you can use the NV3500 transmission and NP231HD t-case from the chevy, in the jeep also.

My 4.3L (or what once started as a 4.3) is in my S-10....
