Exclamation Please Hurry!

Hello forum,
I am a young man who is about to buy my first car/jeep. I have wanted one for most of my life. Anyway, I have a white '92 YJ lined up but I need to know a few things first. Please reply soon as I do not want to let this deal go.

First off:
this is a HIGHLY modified Jeep with many great improvements. With that being said, I want to know if I am getting ripped off. Is $4200 a decent price? I don't want to get into all of the modifications so treat the price as a stock '92. Is that a good deal?
Secondly:
This is very important to my mother. I am unable to answer this, so I figured I would ask you guys. Her question is whether or not the jeep has airbags. Were they stock or is there a good chance that this wont have any?

I can't really answer your first question without details. How many miles? What kind of mods? Does it have a service record? Do they have receipts for the mods?

For your second question, no YJs come with air bags. They never have, and you'll never see one with one.

Sounds like an ok price if it's a clean jeep, make sure to check the frame for rust and just go over the whole thing with s fine tooth comb, always be a little cautious when looking at a jeep with mods, you never know what bozo did the mods and if they did them right or not, as far as air bags go they didn't come them lol but they did come with some metal bars to help protect you in a crash roll cage FTW other then that good luck to you in buying a "new" jeep and welcome to the addiction!

Ok, to me if it's real clean and you think the modifications are worth about $2000 then yeah, maybe ... If you wan't to spend that much instead of buying a stock one and building it up yourself.
As far as airbags go. 1997's and Up had them... so NO, the 92 shouldn't have airbags.

Check make sure the 4wheel ACTUALLY works. Heres what should happen, engage 4 wheel drive (put it into 4HI) a light should come on the dash saying it is in 4 wheel drive. Next drive it in a tight circle in a parking lot (needs to be flat pavement or similar not dirt) and if the wheel fight you, as in the steering wheel jumps around in your hands, you have a working 4 wheel drive. If the light doesnt come on and the wheel feels like it is somewhat smooth going in a tight circle you probably dont have 4 wheel drive. It's actually a common fixable problem with jeeps however you can definitely talk him down if that is the case on the basis of major mechanical work needed.

P.S. 4200 sounds like blue book to me, so take that as you may

Don't freak out to much about the light. Only worry about the steering. My 4wd light went out, but my 4wd still works.

If you're able to, it's always nice to drain a little oil out to check for color. If it's milky, brownish, or looks like a milkshake....run away.

Checking the frame is very important! As stated above, Wrangler frames rot. Check for holes and major rust (surface rust is fine) Avoid large body lifts. Check for ripples in the body. That indicates that it might have been in a wreck and repaired.
Get any service records you can possibly find.

WOW! Thanks for all of the quick replies! I have now seen the jeep in person and it is a true match made in heaven...I'm absolutely digging those square headlights :P
As far as price goes I am not too concerned anymore, it belongs to a friend of the family's and my Dad has been driving it every once in a while. He says it "drives like a log wagon." I would expect nothing less from my darling Jeep. As far as safety goes, are these things safe at all? Have any of you been in an accident with one? If so, how badly were you and the jeep damaged?

Luckily, 92's should all have the family style roll cage. If it doesn't she is right. Invest in one.
