What is rust?

lol - If the windshield is bad enough, you might be able to replace it from another YJ... if you can find another one that isn't rusted through.

doesn't look too bad from the pics, you're gonna have some small rust on most older yj's. i'd check the floor boards, and frame real good for rot. otherwise, if you like it make an offer, i'd bet you two can meet around 1500 bux. and it depends on the area, i'm in the midwest, and its hard to find one thats not rotted out for 1500. where i'm at its a good deal if its in ok shape.

I agree with Doc. If you don't see any more rust upon inspection I think that is a good deal. Around here that would go for 3000. I want to move where flattietj is so I can get jeeps like this for under a grand.

My next question is; What options do i have for interiors? seeing as this ones all beat up

Unlimited. New seats, new caret or rip the carpet and line it. The list goes on and on. Limited only by your wallet.

$1000.00 or less? not around here (VT). looks to me it sounds like a good deal.
look under the carpet and check the frame and body mounts for rust. Windshield frame is not a big deal you can buy an aftermarket new one for about $140.00 or take your time and find a factory one. If you want my honest opinion if your not in a hurry to buy one take your time and find one with a 4.0 six cylinder. I own a 94' yj with a 2.5 4 banger I wish I would have started with a 4.0. goodluck welcome to the forum.

Barring any major rust (i.e. frame) I would scoop that up in a second at $2k around here.

Hey, don't write off that 4 banger just yet! My '93 YJ has the same set-up with the 5 speed and has over 200,000 miles on it. Had a new clutch and new o-rings on the fuel injectors... that's it! I wheel the heck out of it every chance I get and it never stops impressing me. The 4 banger will let you know when you are into something too tough (big rocks...), which I find helpful. A bigger engine makes me (and most folks) want to push harder on the skinny pedal and muscle through... which can lead to breakage and more $$$. Just my 2 cents here!

When you check the floor boards, check the support columns by the driver's and passenger's feet. These are bascially right behind where "Jeep" is stamped on the sides. YJ's often start rusting from the inside out right there!

If he came down to 1800 so fast, take 1500 cash and I bet you'll drive home with it! Be sure the title is good!

Yeah, with a hardtop and full doors, that's an easy $2K around here unless your feet get wet from the holes in the floor. For certain check under the carpet and the rear frame for rot.

You could get close to $1k for the top and doors alone in resale.

ok i found another one that completely blows this one outa the water. its a 95 with hard top in black with tan hardtop. 143k miles but not one speck of rust on it. still the 4 cyl 5 speed but the no rust is really what might make it for me. only thing is the guy wants 3600 for it i think if i show up with 3000 cash he might bite. what do you guys think?

yeah for sure keep looking. the 2.5 and ax-5 are just not worth anything over 2k. (that being said i over paid 4 yrs ago when i bought my 95' @ 6k<lol im an idiot) i would say a 4.0 4.2 is worth a ceiling of 3,700.00 for yj's cuz north of the lower 50 and you WILL be repairing salt/rust to various things all ovr the jeep. and it will go even quicker livin where u live. if it's just a tool around winter thing, buy any of those but under 2k. if yer lookin to wheel it, be patient and take a southern road trip and haul one up. the expence of doing this will save you in the long run and misery.<enless you live for grinding yer knuckls away and tetnus.

He is right my 94' came from PA, I gave up trying to find a solid one around here for a decent price. Fuel prices are nice enough to travel and get one.

you cna buy it and probably drive it forever. but from everything i hear, you wont like the 4 banger. i've gotta 91 with the 6cyl. find out if it leaks under the dash when it rains, if it does, ask him to knock some price off. theres 2 things that cause this and both are easy and cheap to fix but the more you can knock off, the better. in my 91', 3 out of the 8 bolts the mount the seats to the floor had pretty nasty cracks in the floor board, look for that too ( i only say that bc i've heard of 1 or 2 other people with the same problem), other than that. its a jeep, you're gonna love it. and since you want it for the winter, make sure the heater works. but be careful with it..... the heaters on these puppies can cook an egg between your house and work. lol

look these Long Island yj's over real good for rust and water leaks
Do your home work and dont be afraid to offer one half to three quarters of their asking price and dont give in too quickly you will be surprised at how much you can get the price to move.
There are plenty of these wranglers here for sale
Good Luck

Ill let you guys know how it goes after i take a look at it.
